About JATL

Welcome to Alt-Law: JATL's Student Careers Guide. This guide showcases the breadth of legal careers that exist beyond the traditionally promoted pathways of commercial law clerkships. Designed by law students, for law students, Alt-Law expands on the typical careers guides produced by student law societies by highlighting the full spectrum of legal practice and connecting students with the resources they need to shape a career aligned with their values and aspirations.

The Alt-Law project reflects JATL's commitment to innovation while remaining grounded in our core mission: promoting and critically examining the intersection between law and social justice. If you find this guide valuable and want to support its growth, we invite you to join JATL as a member so we can continue improving and expanding this resource.

JATL extends our sincere thanks to our sponsor, the College of Law. Their support has made the development of this careers guide - and our accompanying careers networking event - significantly easier and more impactful. You can explore additional College of Law resources in the External Resources section.
